On recent Saturday mornings just 9 volunteers were out and about making Cobh just a little bit nicer to live in, work in and to visit. The wall on Harbour Hill got a fresh coat of paint. Thanks to a local lady for supplying the paint and to Mary and Tracy from Ardeen B&B for the beautiful tea and scones. Bishop street and the Cathedral Car park were picked of litter – it is incredible to think that three bags were collected from this area and that only included 1 bag of abandoned refuse.
About 200 kg of grit and dirt were also swept from The Rock and from Cathedral Place where the road is literally wearing away! Volunteers were also out cutting grass in the Old Church Cemetery and planting flowers in the boats and boxes around town .Our entry for the 2014 National Tidy towns competition has been sent off. Judging starts from 1st June and we can be judged anytime in June, July or August.Remember everyone can help to keep Cobh looking good – even by picking up one piece of litter.
