On another beautiful Saturday only five volunteers made it out with the Tidy Towns Group to help to make to Cobh a nicer place to live in, work in and visit.
It came as a shock to find that on a weekend when 10,000 Cruise Liner passengers and crew would arrive in Cobh along with thousands more visitors from Ireland, that the flower beds in the Promenade were a total disgrace. In fact they looked pitiful all winter, but on the May Bank Holiday weekend when they should be fully prepared to receive summer flowers they were overgrown with masses of weeds.
The Tidy Towns volunteers cleaned them out in two hours and then headed to The Rock to sweep the Tourists “short cut” to the Cathedral.
