It was wonderful to see 20 volunteers come out on Saturday morning.A team of painters headed to the Rock and painted the railings black. It makes such a difference to have a large group out when doing jobs like this and it was great to see some new volunteers enjoying the activity too! Wild Clematis was trimmed back on the wall at the fire station and Lower Midleton Street. The footpath from the entrance to the Deep Water Quay along to the Quays Bar was powerwashed including removal of chewing Gum.Thanks to Tom Hoynes and Lynn O’Reilly,Ray Duffy and Hendrick Verwey who stayed on the job until 4.30pm.John Walsh Cobh Powerwashing started powerwashing the 2 squares on Sunday.Well done to Michael O’Shea and his wife from Ard na Laoi B&B who are painting the railings of the former Pillars Bar.

During the week Tidy Towns volunteers successfully removed more graffiti from walls around Cobh, painted the old railings at Harbour View ,painted over graffiti at Carrigaloe and continued to pick litter from the roads around the island as well as the Fota Road.

Don’t forget Cobh needs you on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th to complete some projects for our National Spring Clean which ties in with RTE’s filming of Dirty Old Towns. Please join us at some stage to join in the fun!

The timetable of events is as follows, but is subject to change. People may of course take part in as many tasks as they wish.
