On a gorgeous sunny Saturday morning in Cobh some Tidy Towns volunteers cut back the overgrowing brambles on the beautiful big stone wall opposite the train station.Only the brambles were removed from the wall thus allowing space for the wild plants to bloom including Red Valerian, Gazania, St. John’s Wort, Oxeye Daisy, Ivy Leafed Toadflax, Mexican Fleabane, Sage and even Fennel. The footpaths were swept and overgrowing brambles trimmed to clear the way for pedestrians.

A half a bag of litter was picked up on The Rock on Saturday morning. The party goers have taken to incinerating some of their rubbish in arch number 9 and the litter picked  included some  pieces of furniture that didn’t burn in the bonfire.

More volunteers continued cleaning the railings at the Promenade.

On the beach at Carrigaloe 4 bags of rubbish were collected as well as 2 plastic drums and 2 traffic cones.

Please join us on Monday mornings at 11am at the Ballynoe Inn or on Saturdays at 10am by the Five Foot Way if you would like to help us.
