Members of Cobh Triathlon Club have been busy as ever over recent weeks. The 20th of August in Killarney saw two club members Mark McGarry and Peter Van De Beek completing the toughest of all triathlon distances THe Ironman – (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. Mark and Peter completed the race in Killarney where other club members completed the Olympic distance. September 6th saw Billy Burke and Pat Bruton complete their first ever half ironman race in Kenmare – the tough course taking in two of challenging mountain passes – the Caha Pass and the Healy Pass before commnecing the half marathon.
A Group of Club members decided to focus on the bike recently and took part in the Sean Kelly Tour on the 22nd of August. The group complete the 100km challenge.
Two races to go for many of the club members in Kilkenny and Youghal which will bring a wonderfully successful Triathlon season for Cobh Tri Club to a close.
