Last week (27th June), seven young men from Cobh gathered at Feabhas GYDP in Bishop Ahern Close, affectionately known as “the parish,” to receive their QQI Level 3 certificates in the presence of their families and friends in the community.
The youth, who are participants in the Garda Youth Diversion Project (GYDP), achieved their QQI Level 3 certificates in Personal Effectiveness and Career Skills through Feabhas GYDP, in partnership with iScoil, over a period of 8-10 weeks earlier this year. CEO of iScoil Brian Fitzsimons was in attendance and presented each young person with their own certificate and commended them on the hard work and dedication they demonstrated in achieving their certificates. He went on to say that this achievement was a great stepping stone for them in their lives and would stand to them regardless of what type of further education or employment they choose from here.
GYDP project staff, Jimmy Dunlea and Niamh Ryan, also congratulated the young people on their achievements and noted that the commitment they showed over such an extended time period did both themselves and the project proud.
