Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service is excited to announce the return of the Summer Stars reading adventure in branch and mobile libraries across Cork County this summer.

Launching in June, and running until the end of August, Summer Stars is a fun way to encourage children to keep up their reading skills over the summer months and help them discover the joy of reading.

Children are invited to visit their local branch or mobile library to collect a Summer Stars registration pack and reading card to kickstart their reading adventure. Whether on a magical quest, solving a mystery, time travelling through history, or learning about other places and people, each book is a new adventure!

Summer Stars is part of the national Right to Read programme that aims to promote literacy and reading development for people of all ages and backgrounds. Registration is free of charge, and each child who takes part will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the summer.

A programme of events and activities from Cork County Council’s Arts Office, including arts & crafts, music, and writing workshops for children will run in conjunction with Summer Stars.
