Fundraising events have been taking place throughout the Town over the past week or so to assist with and generate much needed revenue for the Courteney Leahy Geasley Appeal. There were collections outside of local supermarkets, SuperValu, Keating’s Londis and Centra which raised in the region of €2,500 over the two days which was well appreciated by Courteney’s family. Collection boxes are still located in some of the local pubs as well and boxes were also out all day Saturday in the Crow’s Nest, Rushbrooke Links. Manager Gavin Higgins (pictured with Courteney and her Family) explained ”We are only to happy to help such a good cause as Courteney’s and will do whatever we can to help fundraise and reach the magic €15,000 target”.

Fundraising takes the shape of a Charity Match (to be confirmed) at Cobh Ramblers on Sunday 28th Feb, with former Cobh Ramblers players like Conor Meade, Shane Barrett, Greg O’Halloran (now Cork City), and RedFM DJ Dave Mac involved. We are still awaing confirmation of other, DJ’s, Ramblers and City players like George O’Callaghan but the final line-up should be very interesting indeed. On Tuesday evening 2nd March there will be a ‘Bring & Buy’ taking place at Cobh Ramblers’ Clubhouse and on Friday 5th March a Charity Night out at Cobh Ramblers Clubhouse with Disco & Karaoke.

On St.Patrick’s Day there will also be a Head Shaving and Leg Waxing event take place at Jack Doyles pub with Music and plenty of Spot Prizes. There is also a special night planned, hopefully at the Community Hall on Sat 27th March involving Cobh actor Pat Kinevane and crew but this has yet to be confirmed. Pat has kindly offered his services free of charge to put on the show.
