Drugs Awareness Week 2010 – Thank You

Published

on

Drugs Awareness Week ran from 3-8th October. Cobh Community Drugs Project decided to run an alcohol free disco to encourage the idea that young people can and do have fun without the use of alchol or drugs. The Red FM DJ Philip Bourke was brilliant on the night and although only 30 young people attended on the night it is safe to say that a great time was had by all. A special thanks to everyone who helped organise the event and those who supported it especially Brenda O Riordan, Alice Stoat, The NoName Club, Billy Brannigan and his team at Cobh GAA Hall and Eric Mc Carthy, Community Garda. Also a special thanks to the volunteers who turned up on the night to monitor the event. I couldnt have done it without you!

Concerned Persons 12 week programme

We are currently running a 12 week programme for those who are suffering from the affects of a loved ones addiction. THe programme is being facilitated by Toni Malone, the family addiction counsellor from Tabor Lodge treatment facility. The course covers areas like enabling, denial, family roles, anxiety and stress management, dealing with feelings and emotions, self care amongst other aspects of addiction. If you are living with or being affected by a loved ones addiction this is the ideal opportunity for you to learn more about addiction, how its affecting your loved one and how it is affecting your life. The programme is running in the YMCA building, 8 West Beach, Cobh on Wednesday evenings from 7-8.30pm. There is a life beyond addiction and you are definately not alone. Do something for yourself today, it would be good to see you.

Thanks
Gemma Turner
