Gills Traditional Fish & Chips in Cobh recently won an environmental award for using compostable packaging in their business. Cobh Tidy towns nominated Gills, owner Keith Sparrow, in the buisiness and Commercial category of the competition which is run by Cork Environmental Forum to acknowledge Keith for his personal commitment to make his business as environmentally friendly as possible.
Keith was awarded with a certificate and a unique sculpture of bog pine and stone which was crafted by Peter Little of Hortisculptures at the Award Ceremony held in the Firkin Crane Centre, Shandon.
“Keith has agreed to work with Cobh Tidy Towns and run a pilot scheme for us to use a composter on site to compost all the food waste from his business. We look forward to working with Keith and other businesses in Cobh to make our town more sustainable.” said Chairman Hendrik Verwey.
