The organising committee of the ‘Great Island 10 Mile Road Race’ would like to take this opportunity to advise the people of Cobh and the Great Island of some disruption to traffic on Sunday 17th April between 1pm and 3pm approx. This race is being arranged for the benefit of the Irish Cancer Society and while over 500 runners took part last year, an even bigger entry is anticipated this year.
The organisers are working closely with Cobh Town Council and Cobh Gardai to ensure that the event will be arranged as safely as possible and every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience to the general public. We would ask people to be patient for the duration of the race and to cooperate with stewards.
Many stewards will be required to marshal the route and we are issuing an appeal to anyone who has a couple of hours to spare on Sunday 17th April to lend a hand. The Irish Cancer Society will benefit substantially from this event and from the efforts of all involved.
Anyone wishing to help out on the day should contact Eamonn Crotty @ 0879863805
Sponsorship cards are available from sonyaomurphy@gmail.com and she can also be contacted on 0877904895.
