Cork International Hotel celebrates with Paddington Bear themed afternoon
The Cork International Hotel is celebrating World Book Day with a Paddington Bear themed event for all the family to enjoy. Hosted over three days, the hotel is providing an afternoon tea complete with marmalade sandwiches and a screening of the much-loved film starring Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.
World Book Day is on April 23rd this year and the Cork International Hotel will be welcoming families to mark the occasion on April 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
Events kick off at 12 noon each day with a screening of Paddington Bear The Movie in the Cork International Hotel cinema. This will be followed by a special Paddington Bear themed afternoon tea which includes marmalade sandwiches, chocolate dipped shortbread paws and warm cherry scones.
The children will be treated to a story corner at 3pm where a hotel team member will read to them. Each child will be given a copy of the Cork International Hotel story book.
Eoghan Murphy, General Manager of the Cork International Hotel said; “World Book Day is such a wonderful family event and we are delighted to be offering our customers, young and old, a chance to celebrate with the classic and well-loved Paddington Bear. Families can enjoy watching the movie together and both adults and children can enjoy our specially designed afternoon tea and afterwards, the children will be entertained at our story corner.”
Edel Kavanagh, Deputy General Manager of the Cork International Hotel said; “Family is at the heart of what we do at Cork International Hotel and the World Book Day event is just one of a number of events planned for the summer months ahead. We are really looking forward to welcoming families across the three days and we hope that parents and children enjoy the celebrations with everyone’s favourite bear.”

Sandwiches: Best marmalade sandwich ever; Smoked Salmon, chive cream cheese & pickled cucumber on Soda bread; Poached chicken, rocket & sun dried tomato on granary Bread
Middle tier: Warm cherry Scone, Irish salted butter & and Follain’s marmalade; Homemade chocolate cupcake with white chocolate icing; Iced carrot and cinnamon cake
Sweet treats: Chocolate dipped shortbread paw; Lemon curd tartlet; Vanilla macaroon; Homemade pistachio choux
