Potential to dramatically enhance entire Cobh community
Cork East TD, Kevin O’Keeffe has said that he is disappointed by the news that the proposals to redevelop Irish Fertiliser Industries site at Marino Point may be delayed.
“This is a regrettable development, as I know that many local people were looking forward to the site being redeveloped, and seeing new enterprises taking off on the site.”
“I’m led to believe that the consortium driving the redevelopment, led by the Port of Cork, have withdrawn their notification to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission,” said O’Keeffe.
“This proposal has the potential to act as an economic catalyst in the Cobh area, and I hope that the consortium will continue to push for its redevelopment.”
“As a local TD, I will continue to support developments like this that have the potential to bring jobs and opportunities to our communities.”
“This development cannot be let slide. I will be writing to the Port of Cork asking them their plans for the site, and offering my support in helping kick start the regeneration of the whole area,” concluded O’Keeffe.
