Internationally renowned Cork Born Violinist makes a return visit to perform at Fota House

On Friday, 05 March 2010, Internationally renowned Cork  born Violinist, Elizabeth Cooney returns to Fota House to give a recital with pianist Elisabeta Blumina at 8.00 p.m.

The programme will include sonatas for violin and piano by Mozart, Ravel and Brahms as well as Ravel’s famous Tzigane.

Elizabeth played the Dvorak Violin concerto to a full house in Cork in November 2008 as part of the National Symphony Orchestra Autumn Tour. She has played with many distinguished partners in the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris, the Brighton Festival, the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Victoria Hall, Geneva and at Carnegie in New York.

Studies with Adrian Petcu at the Cork School of Music were followed by studies with Itzhak Rashkovsky on scholarship at the Royal College of Music in London where Elizabeth subsequently held both the Mills Williams and the Phoebe Benham Junior Fellowships at the RCM London for two years.   She was the National Concert Hall 2006 “Rising Star”.

Elizabeth will be accompanied on piano by Elisabeta Blumina.
