Kathleen Geary, Chief Executive of the Chamber, is to retire after 16 years of service. Kathleen in her role of Chief Executive became a focal point and the principal driver of many of the positive activities undertaken by Cobh & Harbour Chamber during her tenure of office. She is turning her attention to a broader field of work with the provision of FAS Community Employment Schemes. Kathleen has been a prolific advocate of Cobh & Harbour Chamber activities and was instrumental in many of the initiatives undertaken by them in the last number of years. In particular her input into tourism community projects including the Summer Swing Events and the Cobh Calls initiative and most recently ‘Catalyst’ Women’s Business Network. She has also been actively involved in the broader regional Chamber work and has set standards that will be hard to follow.

Speaking about her departure she stated “I will be sad to leave the Chamber after so many years. I have found the work both challenging and rewarding and I will miss the camaraderie and interaction with both the members and the other Chambers”.

Cobh & Harbour President John Sweeney said “Kathleen has made an enormous contribution to the Chamber as its Chief Executive although we are sad to lose her we recognise that her talents will be of enormous benefit to the wider community and wish her the very best in her new expanded role”. Kathleen through the years was very popular with both senior members of the Chamber and her co-workers and subordinates in the Chamber office. The entire Chamber wish her the very best in her future endeavours.
