Local Election Candidate Peter Kidney on the campaign trail

Having spent the last few weeks out canvassing. I would like to thank my fellow canvassers who are engaging with people on my behalf. So thanks Oscar, Terry, Dick, Tom.

The issues that we’ve heard about are:

1] Why is there no ‘ South Doc’ surgery in Cobh? With a population of 15,000 on the island we shouldn’t have to travel to Midleton in an emergency

2] A question by Louie on ‘Stacks Tce’ . We are told that Cobh is an ‘Age Friendly Town’ so how come the council don’t put a slope at the end of footpaths so people in electric mobility chairs can mount and get off the footpath.

3]Resident of ‘Plunkett Tce’ asking about condition of footpaths and cars parking on footpaths forcing people with prams and buggies on to the road.

4]Dick on ‘Saint Marys Close’ asking a well known elected Councillor when the green in front of their houses would be cut? That question was asked alomost a year ago and still nothing has been done about it. The residents are all elderly so they wouldn’t be capable of cutting the grass on such a large area themselves.

I will be out again all this week so if you have an issue or problem I will be glad to try to help.
