Munster Ex-Service Veterans Muster in Cobh

DSCN1159aMembers of the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel ( O.N.E. ) From throughout Munster, assembled in the Commodore Hotel Cobh on Saturday 25th. May 2013 for a seminal Southern Area Council ( S.A.C. ) meeting, hosted by the Cobh Branch. There were 33 members present to represent the following branches; Ballincollig,  Clonmel, Cobh, Commander George Crosbie, Cork City, Imokilly, Nenagh Lower Ormonde, Patrick Sarsfield Limerick, Pierce Mc Can Templemore, Thomas Ashe Kerry, and Tipperary Town. O.N.E. National President, Peter Byrne, together with O.N.E. Directors, Ger Enright and Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh were also in attendance. The meeting was chaired by the Southern Area Council of O.N.E. Chairman, Stephen Dennehy.

Cobh Branch President, Michael Gould welcomed the delegates and expressed a wish that their meeting would be fruitful and their visit to Cobh enjoyable. Secretary Joe Ó Mahony, Treasurer John Kelleher and P.R.O. Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh delivered their reports which were unanimously adopted.

The primary business of the meeting then got underway with delegates exploring means of presenting a united front  at the annual O.N.E. Convention and A.G.M. in Wexford Town on the 7th. 8th. and 9th. of June. Particularly in relation to their concerns in respect of the organisations’ direction and wellbeing.

The Chairman announced that the next S.A.C. meeting would be held on the 11th. October 2013 and hosted by the Cork City Branch at a venue to be confirmed. The meeting was then closed.

Delegates then availed of the oppertunity to have lunch before exploring the many visitor attractions in the beautiful historical town.
