O.N.E. Top Brass Attend 2013 A.G.M. IN Clonmel – Six Cork Branches Present

A large number of members from the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel ( O.N.E. ) gathered in the Clonmel Óg G.A.A. club in Clonmel Town on Saturday 9th. February 2013 for the Annual General Meeting of their Southern Area Council ( S.A.C. ). Forty Two delegates representing the following Munster Branches were in attendance: Ballincollig, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel, Cobh, Commander George Crosbie, Cork City, Imokilly, Lower Ormonde Nenagh, Patrick Sarsfield, Thomas Kent, Tipperary Town, and Waterford.
The outgoing S.A.C. President, P.J. Hassett from the Clonmel Branch, welcomed the delegates and expressed the wish that they would have a successful meeting. He had a special word of welcome for the C.E.O. Mr. Ollie Ó Connor, National Chairman Mr. Martin Coyne, Chairman of the Finance Committee Mr. Paddy Rooney and National President Mr. Peter Byrne. He thanked everyone for their support during his tenure and pledged to assist his successor in every way he could. He thanked the Committee of the Clonmel Óg Club for making their wonderful facilities available to the O.N.E. for the purpose of the meeting and for their great help in organising it.
S.A.C. Secretary Joe Ó Mahony’s comprehensive report on activities for the past year was adopted. Likewise S.A.C. Treasurer John J. Kelleher’s report, which showed the S.A.C’s finances to be sound. The P.R.O. of the S.A.C., Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh in his report listed the O.N.E. events in Munster which he had attended in the past year together with the reports and photographs he had submitted for publication and to which newspapers. He requested O.N.E. personnel to support those publications which oblidged. He also gave a summary of the Board of Directors’ meeting of the 22nd. November 2012.
C.E.O. of O.N.E., Ollie Ó Connor addressed the meeting on the ‘ External Review Committee’s recommended rule changes. He outlined the C.E.O’s responsibilities, reviewed the past year and listed the goals for the coming year .He thanked those present for all their work on behalf of the organisation.
National Chairman of O.N.E., Martin Coyne addressed the meeting on the main aims of O.N.E.
C.E.O., Ollie Ó Connor; National Chairman, Martin Coyne and Chairman of the Finance and Fundraising Committee, Paddy Rooney, accepted and comprehensively answered all questions from delegates present.
O.N.E. National President, Peter Byrne, Chaired the meeting during the election of Officers which resulted as follows: S.A.C. Chairman, Stephen Dennehy Cork City Branch; Secretary, Joe Ó Mahony Patrick Sarsfield Branch; Treasurer, John J. Kelleher Cork City Branch; P.R.O., Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh Cobh Branch; Vice Chairman, Patrick Ó Connell Tipperary Town Branch; Assistant Secretary, Michael Ó Donnell Lower Ormonde Nenagh Branch; Assistant Treasurer, Tony Canning Lower Ormonde Nenagh Branch; Auditors, Jim Mc Intyre Commander George Crosbie Branch and John Mulhall Thomas Ashe Branch.
The newly elected Chairman, Stephen Dennehy, who served with the 2nd. Battery 1st. Field Artillery, Ballincollig and on border duty in 1972 with the 8th. Field Artillery Regiment, thanked all those who voted for him and looked forward to working with everyone during the coming year. He announced that the next S.A.C. meeting would be held on Saturday 25th. May 2013 at 14.00 hours and hosted by the Cobh Branch.
