On Friday 10th June, Virtuoso Guitarist and Composer Pat Coldrick makes a welcome return to Fota House. Pat, a classical guitarist, has taken this genre to another level completely. His music, especially his own compositions, has been described as Music That Defies Genre. While Pat plays his own arrangements of great modern pieces like Desperado and Classical Gas, it is his own compositions that set him miles apart. He is best known for his piece “Lament” which has been played all over the world and is deemed a classic in its own right.

Coldrick’s skillful and atmospheric “connection” with his audience is an art form in itself. His very easy going, laid back and unassuming approach, his interaction with his audience and his philosophy of “entertaining rather than educating” is a breath of fresh air. However, it is easy to be misled by this approach as when Pat starts to play one can see the dedication, passion, skill, and his superb ability as a player and performer. He has the ability to make us laugh and move us to tears!!

Pat has studied with world renowned Guitarists David Russell and Gabriel Esterellas. He has appeared on the Late Late Show, the IFTA awards, two sell out concerts at the National Concert Hall, and with the Degani Ensemble with Alan Smale, leader of the RTE National Symphony Orchestra. Pat has performed at concerts in Slovenia, Austria, France, the US and Russia. He has played at many country house recitals, corporate events, festivals, and many venues throughout the country.

For those interested in Classical Guitar Music, this is an evening not to be missed. This Recital is kindly grant aided by the Arts Department of the Cork County Council.
