The Port of Cork Company (PoCC) has welcomed the news that MSC Shipping group is to run a new weekly service on their Northern Europe Service. The new service will be a direct MSC service linking Cork with the transshipment hubs of Le Havre and Antwerp.

This service will commence from Friday 3rd March and will run weekly from this date.

As the world’s second-largest natural harbour and a key international trade gateway, the Port of Cork (PoC) is ideally positioned to act as a catalyst for trade and employment across the southern region of Ireland, offering direct connectivity to the global supply chain and attracting foreign direct investment.

Speaking on the launch of the new service, Eoin McGettigan, CEO at the Port of Cork Company said: “We are thrilled with today’s announcement from MSC, offering even more connectivity to Europe through these routes to Le Havre and Antwerp. This important announcement marks the start of another extremely busy year for the Port of Cork and strengthens our already strong relationship with MSC with a direct MSC service to Europe, a first for Cork. It is also further proof of the Port of Cork’s ease of access as a trade route to Europe and beyond. From a personal perspective, I look forward very much to working with MSC to build and maintain a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship, helping to deliver on our five-year strategic plan.”
