Rushbrooke Rowing Club End of Season Update

The weekend of 18, 19, 20 August, saw Rushbrooke Rowing Club head to Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal to compete in the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships. We had crews representing the club from U12’s up to Masters. The competition was tough, with clubs from all over the country, but the Club secured 23 medals during the weekend. Our Masters Ladies won gold, Intermediate and Veteran Ladies secured bronze, our U21 ladies secured silver and two club members, Catherine and Fiona, had a great Masters Ladies race with Passage West securing bronze medals. Well done to all our members who participated and supported us during the weekend. Your enthusiasm and support, while competing or cheering on other crews, was a wonderful reflection of the camaraderie within the Club.

While the competitive season has drawn to a close, we will be training on the water, launching boats from the strand in Rushbrooke, on Wednesday nights at 6.15pm and Sunday mornings at 1030am until the end of September. Rowing is a family sport, so why not come out and try it out for yourself! We always take new members, with a minimum age of 10 and no upper age limit!! Pop down to the strand or find us on Facebook

The annual Charity Row Around the Island is taking place on September 16th at 1.45pm, with boats starting at the promenade for the 24km row. The event is now in existence for over 25 years and during this time, funds have been raised for many deserving charities. Monies raised this year will be split between Pieta House and the Irish Community Rapid Response. Club members will have sponsorship cards for the row and we would appreciate your support.
