See You in Cobh in 2013!

See You in Cobh completed another busy year in 2012 by erecting a Christmas Tree just before Belvelly Bridge, which has received very positive public reaction. The tree forms part of our continuing Christmas in Cobh
programme and was erected with the help of Fota Wildlife Park Hopefully the funds raised from the Christmas in Cobh Titanic Wall Christmas cards will ensure a tree and further illuminations at the entrance to The Great Island in the years to come. Cards are still available in many outlets in Cobh, costing just €5 for 6 cards.

Santa’s grotto was relocated to Cobh Heritage Centre for 2012 and Saturday 1st December turned out to be a marathon day for Santa Claus in Cobh. He took his seat in his grotto at 12.30 and met almost 200 children without a break until 6.30 pm when the last child was seen. The re-illumination of St. Colman´s Cathedral took place on the eve of St. Patrick´s Day thanks to the funds raised by the “An Audience with..” Concerts and a grant from SECAD.

The final phase of lighting the Cathedral will be completed shortly. The Titanic 100 St. Patrick´s Day Parade was a huge community event organised jointly by See You in Cobh, Cobh Tourism and Cobh Tidy Towns. The involvement of so many groups set the tone for what was an amazing Titanic Centenary year for Cobh. Anyone who would like to help organise the 2013 Cobh St. Patrick´s Day Parade, Australia Day in Cobh or the other events that See You in Cobh will assist with in 2013 should call Hendrick Verwey on 087 2593850.
