Cork East TD Seán Sherlock and Cobh Cllr Cathal Rasmussen have welcomed the provision of €66,707 for Cobh Primary Schools in the Minor Works Package announced by the Department of Education & Skills this week.
Each school will get a fixed sum of €5,500 and then they’re allocated €18.5 per pupil on the basis of their 2015/16 figures.
“This is extremely valuable money for the school as it allows them to carry out vital minor works such as the replacement of doors or painting works for example, which need to be attended to urgently and on a frequent basis,” said Deputy Sherlock.
“This is important funding in conjunction with the Summer Works Programme also,” stressed Cllr Rasmussen.
“I am glad that once again, Cobh schools are performing strongly in round of funding.”
