Sherlock welcomes Scoil Iosef Naofa classroom

seansherlock211Minister of State in the Department of Education & Skills, and Cork East TD, Seán Sherlock, has warmly welcomed the confirmation that Scoil Iosaef Naofa in Cobh has been approved for the provision of a new 80m2 classroom, to be in place by September 2014.

“This is wonderful news for the school, students and entire school community involved with St Joseph’s,” said Minister Sherlock.

“I have been working closely with the principal, Tony Kenneally, and with local councillor Cathal Rasmussen on this issue, and I am delighted that the application has been approved. This yet a further example of this Government investing in the long term future of our children, and most importantly, in the children of Cobh.”

The Department has approved the provision of 1 x 96m2 classroom for September 2014 comprising of 1 x 80 m2 Classroom with en suite toilet and 1 x 16m2 separate assistant user toilet.

The allowance of 16sqm to provide an assisted user toilet is correct. The school are required to provide this in relation to any new build element being added to the school.

Also welcoming the announcement was Cobh Cllr Cathal Rasmussen, who highlighted the strength of the Labour team in Cobh in securing this proposal.

The fact we have a Minister in the Department of Education representing Cobh cannot be understated and I thank Minister Sherlock for all the help he has shown the school and myself on this and other issues.”
