Sirius Arts: Reframing Community-based Economies 2021

SIRIUS is currently closed, in line with the Irish government’s guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We continue working with artists and other arts professionals as well as engaging with audiences through offsite and/or digital programmes. We look forward to welcoming artists and audiences to our building in the near future.

The project ‘Reframing Community-Based Economies’, initiated last year, is evolving throughout the first half of 2021. Online events that have already taken place are available on SIRIUS YouTube channel. Upcoming online events are taking place this evening, 11 February, and on 11 March and 8 April, all at 18.00; off-site and on-site events are scheduled for 8 and 15 May, 12.00 – 16.00 (subject to restrictions relating to COVID-19).

REFRAMING COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMIES

The artist Colette Lewis, Cobh Zero Waste and SIRIUS are exploring a community-based model of exchange towards the implementation of circular economies as a civic-driven imagination of sustainable living strategies. We are forming a digital and Cobh-based group to engage with discourse and practices around alternative, community-based economic systems. We are inviting all interested people to participate in a series of events to creatively and ethically think about how to ‘take back the economy’.

‘Reframing Community-based Economies’ is commissioned by SIRIUS with the support of the Creative Ireland County Cork grant scheme.
