Sirius Arts Centre Cobh, Co. Cork
Presents:
Opening Thursday, 8th July at 7:00pm
The Wilson Collection
Photographs by
Robert, Joe & Jasper Wilson
Three generations of photography highlighting Cobh and Cork
Exhibition runs Friday 9th July until Sunday 1st August
Spanning three generations photographers, Robert (who has organized and compiled this exhibition), Joe – his father and Jasper – his grandfather. The Wilson’s have made a huge contribution to capturing and documenting Cobh over the past 80 years. This exhibition is comprised of a selection of works taken from the book ‘The Journey’ published by Robert Wilson last year, to mark the 10th anniversary of his father’s death.
Robert says of his father “Most people think of their parents as the best in the world , but my father was. What he crammed into his short life wasamazing, despite ill health. What he wouldn’t do to get a photograph is
stuff of legend.”
The photographs in this exhibition follow the path of an imaginary visitor arriving at Cobh by sea, walking through the town and finishing up at the cathedral, travelling backwards and forwards in time through the images.
Sirius is delighted to show these photographs celebrating the lives and work of the Wilson family.
Sirius Arts Centre Gallery hours: Wed to Fri 11am – 5pm / Sat & Sun 2 – 5pm
