SECAD Announces Further Funding Opportunities at SECAD Showcase Event
The opportunity to access funding to support a business, tourism or community project drew more than 120 participants to the SECAD Funding Showcase event in Little Island today.
“We have a number of funding mechanisms through which SECAD can support organisations in the South and East Cork Region. These include calls for proposals for those in the food processing industry, those interested in developing ecommerce sites for craft, food and tourism projects, as well as funding for communities such as village renewal, walking trails and community renewal energy initiatives,” explained Ryan Howard, CEO SECAD, the South and East Cork Area Development partnership.
The record numbers attending the event heard from speakers who have benefited from SECAD funding already, including Titanic Experience, Happy Days Ice Cream, Movie Junction and the Tracton Community Centre. Members of the SECAD team were on hand to provide advice and consultation in relation to funding supports and eligibility criteria.
“Today’s event is primarly about funding opportunities, but it also provides an excellent forum for communities, businesses and entrepreneurs in the South East Region to network, share ideas and learn more about turning their concept into tangible realities”, added Howard.
At the event, SECAD also launched its new website, www.secad.ie, which provides abundant information on the programmes that SECAD operates, and also any current funding opportunities.
“I’m so excited to hear about this initiative. There are a myriad of opportunities to add value to local produce and to build on the reputation that South & East Cork has gained through its restaurants, cafés and farmers markets as a food destination” added Darina Allen, Owner of Ballymaloe Cookery School in Shanagarry, Co Cork, Ireland.
