A very successful Christmas carol concert was held on Sunday 7th December in Mitchel hall on Spike Island. The Courtyard choir under their musical director Mr. Ger Gunn (which gave of their time free of charge) performed many well known songs and carols which the audience participated in and made the day most enjoyable. After the concert, tea, coffee and Christmas delights including minced pies, trifles and Christmas cake were provided free of charge by Murphy’s Centra and well received by the audience in the cafe on Spike. Marine Transport Ltd, who operate the Spike Island Ferry, kindly provided the ferry to Spike Island free of charge for the event.
A total of €1,200.00 was raised for two local charities, the Cobh hospital and the St. Vincent de Paul Coal Fund each of which will receive €600.00
