SAT NOV 24

Gary Comerford 15 Premier

Springfield Ramblers 1 Midleton 2

A great start to the game got the lads five corners in the opening fifteen minutes. Niall Abbott produced a great cross and captain Adam O’Sullivan volleyed the ball to the roof of the net. The midfield three of Charlie Fleming, Sean Hilliard and Barry Chandler worked tirelessly and dominated the opening thirty minutes. Right back Calvin Murphy was having a good game and was putting in great balls into the box but Ramblers could not find the second goal that their play deserved, and eventually Midleton got into the game. A succession of free kicks and corner balls put the home defence under pressure and Midleton scored with a free header in the six yard box.

In the second half it was fairly even, both sides went on the attack. Missed opportunity’s cost Ramblers again as Midleton scored a fine goal from a break away, a fine shot from the edge of the box finished in the bottom corner of the net. Simon Doyle worked very hard down the right hand side of midfield and produced three fine crosses but Ramblers players could not finish off the chances. Congratulations to Midleton in a very sporting game.  Best for Cobh were Sean Hilliard, Calvin Murphy, and Simon Doyle.

The team would like to welcome back Jeffery McCarthy and he will add to competition to the small squad of players. The club wishes good luck to goalkeeper Dave Coffey who has Ireland trials this weekend.

Tramore Athletic 4 Springfield Ramblers 2

The Springfield Ramblers lads played very well in this despite only having 11 players on the day. They gave it their all and didn’t deserve to lose it. Well done to all players; the whole side played well. The goals were scored by Luke Quinn and Anthony Otokiti.

11 Group 2

Springfield Ramblers A v Corinthian Boys A

Springfield Ramblers played at home on Saturday against Collage Corinthians. The game was very competitive from both teams. Ramblers played very well right through the squad and only for the fantastic goalkeeping of the Corinthians keeper the result would have been closer. We could not have asked anymore from our lads who are playing and working very well for each other as a team. Tom Ring put in a great performance on the wing going forward and when he had to defend. He helped as well with a goal and Tadgh O’Connell got our other two.

Springfield Ramblers B v Avondale United A

Douglas Hall 3 Springfield Ramblers A 1

In a very good game of football played by both teams Douglas Hall came out on top. Springfield Ramblers led at the break 1 nil from a great goal from Darragh Heelan who lobbed the ball into the Douglas net after a good ball in from Emmanuel O’Neal. Douglas started the second half the better team and Springfield found themselves a goal down after two quick goals inside the first ten minutes. Douglas continued to put pressure on Springers and were stopped by two great saves from Adam Stanton in the Springfield goal. Springers kept fighting all the way throughout the game and never gave up. Douglas added a third but to Springers credit they kept attacking and could have got a second and even a third had their luck been in. Darragh Heelan and PJ O’Regan put in great performances for Springers.
