It’s been a busy end to the season for the Springfield Ramblers’ academy teams.
The *under 8’s, 9’s and 10’s* have been playing in the Cork Schoolboys’ Small Sided Games fixtures since April with the teams coming up against the likes of Carrigaline, Riverstown and Midleton. The under 8’s and 9’s play 5v5 games and under 10’s 9v9, and by all accounts our players are improving game by game.
The Academy’s youngest group, the *under 6’s*, played their first small sided games against Douglas Hall in early May and faced them again last Saturday morning when both teams reached the final of the Watergrasshill blitz. The young Cobhites emerged victorious after a tough but entertaining game, winning 2-0.
The *under 7’s* recently hosted Midleton for small sided games and followed this up last weekend by also playing in the annual blitz in Watergrasshill.
It will be a quiet couple of months at the “Astro” as the season comes to a close although the club will host an *FAI Summer Soccer School* from the 6th to 12th of July for kids aged between 6 and 14 (see www.summersoccerschools.ie).
Saturday morning coaching will start up again in early September.
