Umbro 12 Division 4
Springfield Ramblers B 4 Passage United 1
What a brilliant home win for this young side. Considering that Passage have only one team U12 Springfield totally dominated this game carving out plenty of chances from the start. Josh Kelleher opened the scoring with a fine goal, Passage scored next with also a fine finish. Springfield took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored again through Brad Stapleton 3 minutes before half time. Passage came after the home side in the second half. But the home side where always dangerous on the counter attack. Josh Kelleher scored again with another fine strike. To round off a great move Ger Devlin hit a 20 yard volley high into the left hand corner of the net to give a well-deserved home victory.
Well done again to the lads.

TUE APR 30

U15 Cup Q Final
Mayfield United 0 Springfield Ramblers 1
The quarter final against high flying Mayfield Utd was a fantastic game of football. Both teams passed the ball well and both defences were on top. Adam Horgan received the ball on the half way line and beat three players to score a wonderful goal, to win the match. Credit to both teams who gave great commitment

Umbro 14 Division 5
Cobh Ramblers 3 Avondale United A 0
The lads secured another 3 points in their quest for promotion with another solid display. Goal scorers were Jordan O’Mahony and two from Peter Dennis.

WED MAY 1

U12 Cup Semi Final
Springfield Ramblers 0 Buttevant 0
Springfield Ramblers win 4-3 on penalties

This was a pulsating cup tie with Buttevant dominating the first 15 minutes by pressing us high up the pitch. Springfield slowly found their rhythm with Diarmuid Kearney creating space for himself only for his shot to come off the cross bar. After that Cian Walker began to get the better of the physical Buttevant centre forward winning numerous free kicks off them. The introduction of Eoin Kelly ten minutes into the 2nd half  just after a very brave goal line clearance by Mikey Foley added pace to the attack & all sorts of problems for the Buttevant defence. Only for the Buttevant keeper’s superb handling Springfield were unlucky not to score in normal time.

Extra time saw Springfield push on for the elusive winning goal & were very unlucky not to get it when Nathan O Connell provided a great cross for Eoin Kelly but the shot hit the post. Still time for one more chance in the dying minutes only for the Buttevant keeper to make a spectacular save to see his side go to penalties.

The very tense penalty shoot out was high lighted by our keeper Jamie Bates making two outstanding saves for us to win  the shoot out 4.3

Thanks to Buttevant for a very competitive game & to all that came out to support the team, hope to see you all in Turners cross next Thursday.

FRI MAY 3

U15 Cup Semi Finals
Springfield Ramblers 1 Ringmahon Rangers 0
The semi-final was played on Friday night against Ringmahon Rangers. Ramblers had a great start to the match and should have scored three goals in the first ten minutes. Cian Darcy, Charlie Fleming and Adam Horgan were denied by Ringmahon’s goalkeeper who pulled off three great saves.
Ringmahon then took over and were the better team up to half team with the score still scoreless.

Some strong words at half time put Ramblers back on track. Adam Horgan again was the match winner scoring a fine goal after five minutes of the second half. Dave Coffey was the hero on the night, where he showed why he is the number one keeper in Cork. Dave produced six unbelievable saves in the last ten minutes to help Cobh into the final. Well done to Ringmahon F.C. on a very good and sporting game.
Over the two games all the players should be proud of their commitment and spirit and teamwork to reach this year’s Cup Final which will be played in Turners Cross next Tuesday at 7pm.

Umbro 14 Division 5
Cobh Ramblers 0 Carrigtwohill United 1
The Cobh lads can be proud of their performance despite losing this top of the table clash. Despite missing two of their regulars the lads worked their socks off and probably deserved a point at least.

Springfield Ramblers v Lakewood Athletic – Postponed.

Umbro 12 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers A 3 Leeds 1
Springfield Ramblers started this game at a high tempo and could have been two up in the opening 5 mins. They got what they deserved in the tenth minute when a great ball through by Lewis Whelan found Brian Danaj who put the ball past the Leeds keeper giving him no chance. Leeds got back in the game with a penalty and from then on it was Springers who done all the pressing and went ahead again through goal scorer supreme Danaj, bringing his total for the season so far to 16. At the back Springfield Ramblers were solid, marshalled by Edward O’Mathuna and David Sloan .The third goal was scored by Darragh Heelan after some great work by Jamie Kelly who worked all day to put in a good display. All the lads should be proud of themselves in the manner in which they played and the attitude they have been showing in training.
