SPRINGFIELD RAMBLERS MATCH REPORTS 8th February

Youghal United 0-1 Springfield Ramblers
Today’s game was one of two halves. Springfield started shaky and you could see the effect of not have a game for three weeks. Youghal were the first to have a real chance with one of their players striking the cross bar, and another quickly following up but Cormac gathered the ball expertly and kicked it to safety.

Towards the end of the half Danny up front was starting to cause the Youghal defenders problems but Springfield couldn’t find that elusive first goal. After a stern half time talk the team gathered themselves and were a different team in the second half. They got off to a quick start through some great play down both wings by Adam D and Luke. The hard worked paid off with a fantastic goal which was truly a team effort with David S passing it up the left wing to Adam D who passed it to Colin, who then displayed some fantastic footwork to beat three players and slot it neatly passed the keeper. Springfield continued to attack with Luke and Danny coming close on other occasions.

With a few minutes to go Springfield gave a penalty away which if scored would have sent the match to extra time but the luck was with the side today as the Youghal player put it over the crossbar. Today the young squad showed how well they can play when they play as a team and all contributed to this strong display. Best on the day, Luke, Adam D and David S.

Umbro 13 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers 1-1 Castleview
Playing the team currently second in the league, Springfield Ramblers dominated the game start to finish and one wonders at times why we are just mid table. The football was great, the commitment outstanding and we should have one the game comfortably only for a great display by the Castleview keeper. Great goal by Kieran Long, great team performances by all players and joint man of the match displays by Dean O Leary and Ben Kelleher, thanks to fans as always.

Umbro 12 Premier
Springfield Ramblers 0-0 Carrigaline United
Last time SR played Carrigaline they were hammered 5-0 on the opening day of the season. Today’s result shows how much the team has progressed since. With the majority of chances falling to Ramblers, at times they dominated and were unfortunate not to come away with the win. All players were a credit to the team. Impossible to pick one motm performance from so many, all were outstanding.

Umbro 13 Division 5
Corinthian Boys B 1-2 Springfield Ramblers A
After a slow start Corinthians went a goal up through good pressure. Fortunately this is what our lads needed to get them motivated, but with numerous chances which we failed to convert we still trailed 1-0 at half time. Second half was much the same as the first, the breakthrough eventually came with a great finish by Matthew Khan Moss and moments later by John Breen. A last minute corner by Corinthians sent hearts racing as the ball shot across the goal mouth with no one able to convert.

Best of the day Jordan Doyle CB, Jake Walsh CM. Matthew k Moss RM. and a man of the match performance by Jordan Dunphy LM who tormented the Corinthians defence all day.

Thanks to all the parents who travelled to support the lads.
