Springfield Ramblers A (3) v Mallow United A (1)
Easter Monday saw second placed Mallow Utd present the latest challenge to our U11 Classicos. Building on the ice cool defence of Emmanual Gattuso Adeosun, Jake Terry Kennedy, David Villa Julius and Charlie Maldini O’Regan, the Rams took control of this one early on. The great big sprinkler system in the sky aided our heroes play their now legendary brand of total football and Sam Nasri Kennedy slide ruled a pass to Sultan Aguero Adebayo who hammered home to give us an early lead. With Paul Messi Murphy and Daniel Alves Julius winning the midfield battle it wasn’t long before Agureo made it two. The ecstatic home fans broke into a Poznan and so missed hat trick hero Aguero finish off a sweeping move by Josh Griffiniesta and Ben The Postman Kennedy. Shell shocked, Mallow were able to regroup at half time and the second half was a much more even affair. But with the likes of Cian Januzaj Tobin and Darragh Ozil Regan doing Gareth Bale impressions on both wings, there was no danger of this one slipping away. The one bright spark for the away team came through a penalty which Ronan Cassillas O’Connor was unlucky not to stop. There were many heroes today, but the Auntie Nellies sponsored man of the match was Sultan Aguero Adebayo and he was presented with his ever lasting gob stopper by captain Josh Griffiniesta. By the end, a chorus of ‘Its just like watching Brazil’ rang out around the ground, led by Ronan O’Connors Dad. How right they were. On the Rams…..

St. Mary’s (3) v Springfield Ramblers A (0)

Umbro 13 Division 5
St. Mary’s A (1) v Springfield Ramblers B (3)
Goal Scorers, Evan O’Leary (2), Josh Kelleher(1). On a windy Bank Holiday Monday the young Springfield Ramblers got a busy week off to a winning start with a hard fought 3-1 victory. The game however did not start so well with St Marys getting a free kick on the edge of the area after two minutes. The free was well struck and although Tony Lynch got a hand to the ball he could not prevent it from going in just under the bar. Springfield have been in this position before and did not let the heads go down. Springfield applied a lot of pressure and were dominating the game before Evan O’Leary struck a fine drive from outside the box that beat a diving keeper. A couple of minute’s later Springfield won a free kick 30yds from goal and again Evan struck the ball superbly and the keeper again had no chance. With a deserved 2-1 lead at half time Springfield knew they still had a lot to do against a strong wind in the second half, however the defence lead by Marc Jones held strong and with a little luck when a free kick came of the post prevented St Mary’s from creating too much. The last five minutes were tense for all the supporters but in the last minute Josh Kelleher bravely challenged the keeper for a high ball and was rewarded as ball looped into the back of the net. With two more games this week the win will give the lads great confidence. Special mention to Josh Kelleher, Killian O’Connell and man of the match Evan O’Leary.

Corinthian Boys A (2) v Cobh Ramblers (1)
The lads were up against it today when only 11 players turned up for this match. Our bad luck continued when our keeper was injured ten minutes into the game and we had to play 70 mins with 10 players. The lads who played today did themselves and the club proud with a mammoth display of guts and pride when they were up against it. Well done lads. Scorer John gardiner. Best player conor mansworth who played in goals after our keeper was injured.

Temple United (6) v Springfield Ramblers A (1)
It was midweek European football this week again for our fast improving young Rams as we travelled to take on table topping Temple Utd for our first game at high altitude.
Our rogues must have been overindulging in some Easter delights as we started the game slowly and were two down within the first 10 minutes. Goal of the season contender Sam Nasri Kennedy pulled one back with a mazy dribble from half way that beat no less than 6 players before coolly finishing when the Rams finally displayed their renowned determination and skill. Temple cancelled the score out within a minute however while we were still celebrating. Goal machine Sultan Agureo then looked to have pegged one back again but was deemed off side.
The high altitude and late night partying took its toll in the second half and we conceded three more, but to the lads credit they fought like Bengal tigers to the end and were almost rewarded when Darragh Ozil Regan brought a finger tip save out of the Temple keeper. It was plain for all to see that there was nothing between these teams bar a little speed of thought, so with some better coaching our boys are well capable of making a charge for this title next season. So we expect to see the ‘WRONG ONES – OUT OUT OUT’ banner flying overhead at the next game. The Auntie Nellies sponsored man of the match was Ozil Regan and he received his ever lasting gob stopper from captain fantastic Jake Terry Kennedy. On the Rams….

Greenwood A (1) v Springfield Ramblers B (6)
Goal Scorers, Killian O’ Connell (2), Evan O’Leary (2), Brad Stapleton(1), Robert Mannix(1).
The second instalment of this week’s away trilogy was played on a beautiful spring evening in Togher. Springfield were well up for it and got off to a flying start when Killian O’Connell chased down a ball wide of the goal to beat the keeper from a narrow angle in the first minute. Continuing to apply the pressure it was Killian who also got the second with a header from a fine cross by Cian Doherty. Springfield dominated the first half and another fine individual goal from Evan O’ Leary made it 3-0. The second half saw Brad Stapleton and Robert Mannix coming on and adding to the tally with a goal each. Luke Murphy then won a penalty which was converted well by Evan O’Leary before Greenwood scored a late consolation. Great performance with special mention to Cian Donnachie and Ger Devlin and Man of the Match Killian O’Connell.

Fermoy (7) v Springfield Ramblers B (1)
Goal Scorers, Marc Jones.
For the final part of the away trilogy it was off to Fermoy on a wet and very windy morning. Confidence was high with two away wins already this week but it was table toppers Fermoy who got off to a flying start with a goal in the first minute. Playing with the strong wind Fermoy were using the long ball and their quick forwards to put a lot of pressure on Springfield. Springfield seemed to be getting used to the tactic when some individual mistakes and bad luck on a slick pitch saw them concede four goals in the last five minutes of the first half. Going back out for the second half with the wind at their backs and looking to restore some pride Springfield started to put pressure on their opponents but unfortunately it was Fermoy who scored again with a high ball which the keeper failed to hold in the wet and windy conditions. Springfield however kept going and a fine free kick from Marc Jones gave them a goal. Several more chances were created but not taken before Fermoy scored again in injury time. Some good moments against the table toppers with notable performances from Marc Jones and Shane Kelsal. Thanks to all who travelled and supported the team throughout the week

Umbro 15 Division 4
Cobh Ramblers (7) v Mallow United A (0)
The lads got their league title push back on track with a comfortable win against mallow. Jordan o Mahony, Darren McKevitt, and Aaron Dolan were the scorers. Best on the day Ciaran Leahy.

U16 Local Cup
Mallow United (0) v Springfield Ramblers (2)
Another good performance from the lads who continue their impressive form of late with a tough draw away to Mallow. With this 2-0 win the 16’s progress to the semi-finals of the cup. Best on the day were Adam O Sullivan, Adam Horgan and finally Geran Manley who got the two goals.

Springfield Ramblers (1) v Riverstown (1)
The final league match for springers against the newly crowned league champions, who were undefeated all season. A win or draw for Springfield would place them in second position and up for a chance for promotion. In appalling-weather conditions Springfield played a great first half, and were rewarded when Jake Ryan scored a fantastic goal with a break at 20mins. With the weather worsening the lads had to battle both weather and the champions out for a result. The second half was a very hard and tough battle with Riverstown laying siege to the SR goal. A very lucky goal at 45mins gave Rstown even more drive, but SR also upped the ante and showed why they themselves were 13 games undefeated. The defence was outstanding. Too many candidates for MOTM but this week we share it between all the defenders. Great credit to all the lads playing in such extreme conditions.

Other News
Well done to Mikey Foley who won the Munster inter league final with cork squad this past week.
