Killinardrish Coachford (1) v Springfield Ramblers (2)
A hard fought win here sees the lads into the next round of the local cup. After 10 minutes they were a goal down against a very determined & physical home side, they showed great character to claw their way back into the game & go in at half time 2.1 up after 2 superb free kicks by Mikey Foley.

The 2nd half saw our defence put under immense pressure by the home teams long ball game but the defence was excellently marshalled by Morgan Dillon Hylton & Jamie Bates. The one time our keeper was beaten Cian O Rourke was there to clear off the line. We were unlucky not to get the 3rd when Eoin Kelly’s ferocious shot rattled the crossbar. While this was a huge team effort special mention to Mikey & Emmeca who were excellent on the day.

Umbro 13 Division 5
Leeds A (7) v Springfield Ramblers B (4)
With 3 months since last league match coming up against an unbeaten Leeds team was never going to be easy. The game started badly with Leeds scoring in the first minute and then doubling the lead after 10mins. Springfield started to settle and were rewarded with a fine team goal finished by Evan O’Leary. However two late first half goals left Springfield 4-1 down.

The second half started even worse than the first with two goals in two minutes and another soon after made is 7-1. But to their credit the lads showed some great spirit lead by Cian Doherty’s tenacity in midfield scoring three quick goals, two more from Evan O’Leary and a fine individual goal from Ger Devlin. The Leeds team started to show some sign of nerves but held on in the end. Second half showed signs of the team that won three in a row before Christmas and will come good again.

Thanks to all the away supporters who cheered the lads to the end in cold and damp conditions.

Under 15 Cup
Tramore Athletic (5) v Cobh Ramblers (0)
The lads played their first match in 3 months due to the bad weather against a Tramore team 3 divisions ahead of them in the local cup. The result doesn’t do the lads justice as it was scoreless up to just after halftime and it could have went either way. In the end Tramore got the breaks and went on to win. The lad’s main focus this season is the league and this cup game was a chance to get back to match fitness after such a long break.

U15 Local Cup
Riverstown v Springfield Ramblers
S/R’s under 15s travelled to Riverstown on Sunday and despite being short some squad players won a tough physical game 3.2, scorers were Eoin Meaney, Rob O Connor and Evan O Mahony best on the day were Alex Ryan and Anthony Otokiki.

Umbro 16 Premier
Lakewood Athletic (2) v Springfield Ramblers (3)
Playing their first game in over 6 weeks Springfield Ramblers defeated Lakewood in an exciting game in very poor conditions. They started by playing into a strong wind Springfield Ramblers controlled the game with both Barry Chandler and Sean Hillard on top in midfield. With Charlie Flemming and Niall Abbott providing outlets for attack from full back.

Springfield Ramblers took the lead when Sean Hillard struck a great goal from 20 yards assist by Charlie Flemming. With Adam O Sullivan and Alex O Driscoll dominating the home attack and Darren Murphy linking play with Calvin Geasley and Cian D’arcy, Springfield Ramblers increased their lead when Adam Horgan outpaced the home defence to score. Within 10minutes Adam Horgan scored his second and put Springfield Ramblers 3 up at half time.

Playing controlled football in the second half Springfield Ramblers marshalled by Dave Coffey in goal continued to dominate and should have increased their lead on numerous occasions. Using their 5subs Springfield Ramblers lost their impetuous and sloppy play allowed Lakewood score two late goals.

Best on the day Sean Hillard, Charlie Flemming and Adam Horgan
