Successful Coffee morning raises much needed funds for the RNLI

Last Wednesday morning, over 200 supporters of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution gathered at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven for the annual coffee morning hosted by the volunteers of Crosshaven Lifeboat.

Thanks to the participants generosity, and the generosity of business’s in Crosshaven and Carrigaline who supplied raffle prizes, the event raised over €2800 towards the upkeep of Crosshavens Lifeboat and the ongoing training of the crew.

Crosshaven Lifeboat has launched on service forty one times this year to seafarers in need of assistance.

Key facts about the RNLI: The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
The RNLI operates over 230 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and has more than 150 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK.
The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.
 Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 139,000 lives.–
