Louise Duffy hosts stars once again for seaside music and chat on RTE show

The much anticipated second season of ‘The Ballycotton Sessions’ will begin on RTE 2 this Thursday March 30th, showcasing a host of top musicians in front of a live audience at the stunning East Cork venue of Sea Church.

The eight-part series, hosted by radio and TV presenter Louise Duffy, was recorded in September at Sea Church in the picturesque seaside village of Ballycotton. The line up included artists such as winner of Choice Music Prize Song of the Year, Moncrieff, as well as The Waterboys, Mom + The Rebels, Hermitage Green, Jerry Fish, Síomha, Hudson Taylor and The Blizzards. Each episode shone a spotlight on the musicians who joined Louise for an interview, as well as performing in the intimate venue.

John Kidney, Manager of Sea Church said: “We’re very excited to bring season 2 of The Ballycotton Sessions to a wider audience. The recording we did in September in association with AV3 Media and RTE was a huge success, the audiences loved it, and we were blown away by the talent on stage. The TV series is a fantastic platform for the artists, and a great way to showcase the beauty of Ballycotton and Sea Church. We’re already making plans for the third season, such has been the success of the first two.”

Sea Church is a unique venue housed in a fully refurbished Church of Ireland church, which first opened in 1835 and has been lovingly restored as a multi-purpose entertainment venue. Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, it will be one of the main venues to host the inaugural Ballycotton F.A.T Fest, a five day celebration of alternative folk and trad music.

The first episode of ‘The Ballycotton Sessions’ Season 2 will air on Thursday March 30th at 11pm on RTE 2, and will be available to view on demand on the RTE Player.
