The Great Island 10 mile road race is coming to the streets of Cobh on April 21 and once again is in aid of The Irish Cancer Society. Cobh’s Road race has been voted the best 10 mile road race in Munster for the second year running and is becoming popular with running clubs from all over the County and further.
The main race of 10 miles will begin at 10.30 am but for those who would prefer a shorter distance, a 5km walk will take place on the same day at 10.00am leaving from the Community Centre, thirty minutes before the main event and will finish in the centre of town outside the G.P.O where all entrants will arrive to Disco music and the waiting crowd. There is no entry fee for the 5 km but entrants are expected to take a sponsor card. Sponsor Cards are available from Sonya Murphy (021-4815125/0877904895).
There will be an Irish Cancer Society Balloon launch at the start of the 5km walk in memory of loved ones. “This is a great way to keep the memory of those gone before us alive, by celebrating their life and sharing memories with others while helping to raise much needed funds for this very worthy charity.” Said Roslyn Crotty,
