Newbridge Town (Kildare) v Springfield Ramblers – Venue: Newbridge 2pm
Next Saturday March 17th is another very important day in the current Schoolboys Football Season for the Springfield Ramblers Club as our Under 16 Premier League team are taking part in a Quarter Final Tie of the SFAI U16 National Cup Competition. The team has an away tie against Newbridge Town of Kildare in Newbridge at 2pm.
The team has performed admirably in the games prior to this round. The boys emerged from the Cork side of the draw with a 6-0 victory away to Kinsale. They then beat Douglas Hall on a 3-1 score line in the next round and had a 4-3 victory in the dreaded penalty shoot-out away to Avondale to qualify for the round of 32. They had a great 3-0 victory away to Tipperary side Bansha Celtic to qualify for the last 16 stage. they then had a very impressive home victory against Liffey Celtic to qualify for the Quarter Final stage of the competition.
The Under 16 team under coaches John Coughlan, Vince Keating, Stuart Burns and Willie O’Hanlon are in a comfortable position in mid table of the U16 Premier League table. The Club wishes the very best of luck to the lads in this very important game and hope the boys and their supporters have a very successful trip on Saturday afternoon.
