Very Successful Cobh Blues Festival Weekend

The launch of The Cobh Blues Experience took place on Thursday evening in the Sirius Arts Centre with the Dave McHugh band. The band played to a sold out crowd,  a mix of Rory Gallagher and blues with some amazing acoustic guitar in between. All over the weekend the pubs, Bars and restaurants of Cobh played host to over twenty bands and singers who  brought their special stlye of music to the Blues Festival.

Now in its sixth year the Festival showcased many local singing talents including Karl Long and the Cobh Blues Band, Sean Long, Cookie and Aces Wildas well as many bands from as far as America (Gary Boss)
and Israel (Yossi Valdimar) and provided over a hundred hours of free live music and entertainment for all the family.

On Sunday afternoon Colin Woolway, founder of the Drumsense Drum School in England gave a masterclass in learning to play the Drums in the Commodore Hotel, much to the delight of all who attended and was later seen performing with the Viper’s Blues Band in Ryan’s Bar.

“It’s been a great weekend for music, Cobh and the craic.” said Paul O’Halloran, founder of the Blues festival and landlord of Ryan’s Bar. “So many great bands have performed over the weekend and everyone’s enjoyed themselves and had fun, and that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors  Guinness and the Cobh and Harbour Chamber and all the business’s in Cobh who have given us their continued supoprt, because without them this festival could not happen.”  Paul finished by saying how he was already looking forward to next years festival.
