Waterford FC v Cobh Ramblers – Preview & Team News
Cobh Ramblers travel to Waterford on Friday in what many describe the game as the biggest of the season!
Ramblers go into the game on the back of an impressive win over UCD at the weekend, a result that leaves them 3 points clear of third place. A win on Friday would close the gap between second place Ramblers and leaders Waterford to just three points as we enter the final quarter of the season.
Speaking to cobhramblers.ie after the UCD game Manager Stephen Henderson said;
‘’The UCD win was based on an incredible squad ethos that has developed over the last few seasons. The players showed a determination that typifies the Ramblers mentality of never giving up even when the odds are stacked against us especially with the amount of injuries and suspensions we had to contend with for this game.’’
However, the big thing on Henderson’s mind ahead of Friday is more injuries;
‘’Unfortunately, we have picked up more injuries and are literally down to the bare bones for this huge game which is really unfortunate’’
‘’This means we will again have to dig even deeper into to depths of our sporting souls and deliver the performance of our season if we are to get anything out of this game at such an important part of the season. We have organised our own doctor to travel with us on Friday just to see what kind of an 11 we can put on the pitch without putting players at further risk.’’
Stephen Christopher is suspended after picking up a red card against Cabinteely on July 7.
