Less than 8 weeks ago a group of nervous, tentative smiling faces took their first steps to making a major change to their daily lives.

For some the idea of running 3 laps of the Tech field seemed a tough task, to run 10 would be a major achievement.

For others this would be a step up from their normal routine and maybe a way to joining other runners and progressing to the next level.

Now 8 weeks later and through the wettest windiest spring for many years many of those faces turned out to run the Ballymore Cobh GloHealth sponsored Fit4Life 5k.

A dry, calm but cool morning greeted everyone as they gathered on the 5-Footway.

After many laps of the now dreaded ‘Track’ the relief of running on the road was a welcome relief.

Two and a half laps of the Low Road-Waters Edge and greeted by the many cheering family and friends and great support from a large contingent of Ballymore Cobh A.C. members all came through with smiles on their faces and great sense of pride in their hearts.

A big well done to all on taking these first steps.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the Black and Amber singlets in the many races around Cork in the coming months and years as well as hearing of your achievements in the world famous Ballymore Cobh A.C. race reports.

Big thanks to the club members, many of whom came directly from the Cloyne 4k Road Race, to run along with the Fit4Life group to offer encouragement and support.

Thanks to the Commodore hotel for the lovely tea, coffee and scones which went down a treat after the run.

Many have already set their next goals and we meet again on Tuesday to prepare for the next challenge.

Onward and Upward.
