The 2011 Cobh People’s Regatta was officially launched last Wednesday night at the Klim Bar, Murphy’s Brewery, Cork. Invited guests and dignitaries made up a large crowd of attendees on the night which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
This year’s Regatta kicks-off on Friday 12th August and runs through Sunday 14th. Cobh Edition spoke with committee member Hylton Richards who told us ‘This year’s Regatta is bigger and better than recent years. We have a great line-up of entertainment over the three days, which as usual, begins with the ever popular ‘Drag Wheelbarrow Race from the Top of the Hill to the Main Stage’, with music and dance to follow throughout the evening, but the highlight of the opening night will be when this years Queens arrive on stage to be interviewed by Cllr Michael Martin”
”Saturday is another busy day with the likes of the Mini King & Queen, Pretty Princess and Handsome King taking place with other activities taking place throughout the day and night. Sunday is also an entertainment packed day and rather than go through all the detail, I would say to the public, Come to Cobh Town Centre to see what it’s all about’
The full Regatta Programme is available available to purchase for €2.00 from local retail outlets.
