Christmas in Cobh begins on Sunday 24th November with an afternoon of free Christmas Cheer followed by the switching on of the Cobh Christmas Lights.
From 2pm to 4.30pm Santa Claus will greet children in the Jack Doyle Room of the Commodore Hotel. Entry will be through the Club C entrance. Santa will have a short chat with children and pose for photographs. Posed Professional photographs may be purchased from Cork Photography & Photobooth Hire or people may take their own photos if they wish.
Elf Ken’s Christmas village, Free Arts and Crafts activities with Glorious Arts and Crafts, Face painting, festive music and a DVD corner will also keep children entertained in the Commodore Hotel. Children must be accompanied at all times during the afternoon’s activities.
From 4.15 pm complimentary Hot Chocolate will be available in the town centre for children with a voucher available during the activities in the Commodore Hotel.
A DJ and Cobh Confraternity Band will entertain in Casement Square from 4pm.
The children’s torch lit procession has become a huge favourite in the build up to the switching on of the Christmas Lights. This year the parade will leave from Cobh Heritage Centre at 4.50 pm and will travel along the town to the Christmas tree where the lights will be switched on by one lucky child. This child will be the winner of an art competition organised by Cobh and Harbour Chamber.
The whole afternoon’s activities are a coming together of community and businesses to show Cobh at its best and as a town that is open for business. The Christmas Lights are erected by Cobh and Harbour Chamber with support from the Cobh Municipal District. This is the 12th year that See You in Cobh are organising a Christmas in Cobh event to coincide with the switching on of the Cobh Christmas Lights and these events are generously supported by Cork County Council.
Please come along and be a part of this fantastic festive free Community event in the centre of Cobh.
Keep an eye out for Christmas in Cobh Christmas cards on sale around Cobh with the See You in Cobh logo. Proceeds from the sale of these cards fund the Christmas tree at Belvelly Bridge. Six cards for just €5.
