That was the question posed to a packed Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh, Co. Cork on Friday night by Darragh McGann during the launch of his new album, “Inside Out”. Recently returned from a concert tour in Louisiana, where Darragh also served as an Ambassador for Tourism Ireland, he recalled the many Irish Diaspora he met with and the great pride and love they had for Ireland.
In a passionate speech before an empowering performance, Darragh challenged both Media and the wider public to disengage from constant negativity of Ireland and all it has to offer, but rather engage in realising the richness of that we as an Irish People possess. He said “ It is time now to stand up with Pride and Dignity, and show to our leaders and others that we as a people believe in who we are, and we will never bow down to anyone.” He declared “ Now is the time to allow what is on the Inside…Out”.
Special guest for the evening was RTE’s Operation Transformation leader Ronan Scully (GOAL) who is also a personal friend of Darragh’s. Ronan told all present that it was Darragh’s music that helped him through the difficult training he had to endure during the TV series, and also more recently during his own journey of the North Pole Marathon. Ronan said “I believe that Darragh’s unique vocal style and music will continue to guide so many people, even when he himself is not aware of the positive impact he has on so many lives”.
Darragh McGann’s new album which features songs by Fr. Liam Lawton and Brendan Graham will soon be available from itunes and can also be purchased from his website www.thesingingtaxidriver.com
