Not a “sniff” of rain, drizzle, fog or wind was to be seen for this weekend’s action in the Cobh Credit Union sponsored Hurling Street Leagues and deservedly so because it allowed something else to fill the void left by their absence.
We don’t know what that “something else” was but the boys & girls of the U-12’s, U-9’s & U-7’s must have sensed it because it enabled them to serve up a hurling feast with multiple courses of skill, committment, passion & spirit in their respective matches on Friday night and Sunday morning.
With some games going to extra time to decide a victor, others being won by the narrowest of margins and every ounce of energy expended until the final whistle, racing hearts, raised blood pressure and hoarse voices were in abundance on the sidelines where team mentors, families & friends encouraged & applauded the embattled juveniles.
Well done to all for providing a fantastic hurling spectacle and if this weekend was a benchmark for the quality of action, then next weekend should be mighty. Good luck to all finalists and let’s hope the inclement weather goes astray again !
Reminder: Please note your final match & start time for next weekend and be in attendance at least 15 minutes prior. Medal presentation for all U-7’s & U-9’s in the Club hall @ 4.00pm on Sunday.
