In 2013, Cobh has the distinction of being entered in “Ireland´s Best Kept Town” competition for the first time. This is an all Ireland competition that includes all thirty two counties and Cobh is one of only thirteen towns and villages that have been nominated as a result of our success in the National Tidy Towns competition. Cobh should be very proud of the huge community effort that has led us to this nomination. Judging for the all Ireland competition will take place in the month of May, with the National Tidy Towns judging occurring any time during the months of June, July and August.
To ensure that Cobh looks its best when the judges and tourists start arriving Cobh Tidy Towns is asking all Residents´ Associations, Sporting clubs, businesses and individuals to be a part of the Cobh – Great Island Spring Clean in the days leading up to and on the day of the main event on Saturday 27th April. Please look around for litter, weeds and dirt along kerbs, uncut green areas and buildings in need of a coat of paint and organise yourself, a group of neighbours or your club or organisation to be a part of the start of our National Tidy Towns “Going for Gold” campaign.
Bags will be available from the Cobh Town Council offices from Monday 22nd April. When collecting bags people will be asked to designate an area from where the full bags can be collected by Cobh Town Council on Monday 29th April.
