CON ELLIOT CUP 1/4 FINAL RESULT
Springfield Ramblers 2 Castleview 0
Springers took control of this game from the very start and didn’t let Castleview into the game at all. They went in front through a Brian Danaj spot kick. Lewis Whelan dominated the game in midfield and was at the heart of every attack that Springers had. They got he second through a fantastic individual goal from Brian Danaj who tormented the Castleview defense all night. Whelan hit the crossbar from a long range free kick and Emmanual O Neal skimmed the post after another great passage of play. All the lads should be proud of the way they played the game and are looking forward to the semi final on Saturday.
U13 prem
Springfield Ramblers 3 Corinthians Boys 1.
Having been under pressure and conceding a goal in the early stages Springfield settled into the game. We got back into match when Cian O Rourke followed in a free kick to get us back level terms. Springfield dominated the second half and deserved their second when Eoin Kelly hit a thunderous shot that the keeper could not handle. Corinthians emptied their bench to get back into the game but Springfield hit them on the counter attack and Eoin Kelly calmly slotted it past the keeper. All the players put in a great shift for this result but special mention to Eoin Kelly for 2 goals, Jamie Bates our keeper who had to deal with the physicality Corinthians brought from set pieces but man of the match goes to Cian O Rourke for a tremendous performance on the night.
CON ELLIOT CUP SEMI-FINAL
MACROOM 3 SPRINGFIELD RAMBLERS 2
Springfield were very unlucky not to come away with the win in this game as they took the game from the start to Macroom. They played the better football throughout the game and really deserved more. They went one up from a free kick from Lewis Whelan, they then found themselves two one down. They fought back and Whelan scored another great free kick to bring the game level. Springers kept putting Macroom under pressure all over the park and had other chances to win the game but had no luck on the day. All credit must go to all the lads for their performance on the day when they outclassed the league leaders and deserved better for their efforts.
