Phil Coulter, one of the world’s best loved performers, is returning to Ballymaloe Grainstore in December, a year on from a sold-out concert at the beautiful East Cork venue.
With a career spanning over five decades, Phil Coulter has written globally popular songs such as the UK’s 1967 Eurovision entry ‘Puppet on a String,’ sung by Sandie Shaw, and ‘Congratulations’ made famous by Cliff Richard. He’s also penned some of the most renowned Luke Kelly ballads including ‘Scorn Not His Simplicity,’ and ‘The Town I Loved So Well,’ along with composing the unofficial anthem of the Irish rugby team, ‘Ireland’s Call.’
‘Phil Coulter – Four Score and Then’ promises to be a celebration of the Derry man’s incredible musical journey, with performances intertwined with entertaining stories from his fascinating career in show business, as well as video footage of collaborations with the likes of Liam Neeson and Billy Connolly.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Operations Manager at Ballymaloe Grainstore Bree Allen said: “Phil Coulter really is music royalty and audiences were in raptures last December when he played here. He’s performed all over the world from Carnegie Hall to The White House so it’s truly an honour to welcome Phil back to Ballymaloe Grainstore for the second year running. We are already heavily booked for what promises to be a magical night during the festive season.”
Phil Coulter will be joined on stage by long time musical associates and special guests, including the outstanding young tenor from Derry, George Hutton. His wife Geraldine Branagan, with whom he has six children, will also join him on the night.
‘Phil Coulter – Four Score and Then’ takes place at 8pm on Wednesday December 6th. To book tickets and find out about special accommodation packages and dining options at Ballymaloe House Hotel, visit www.ballymaloegrainstore.com.
