Update received at our Southern Committee meeting today in relation to the upgrade of the R624 Fota Road.
• A Design brief will be advertised and consultants will be appointed in the coming months of 2021 • A two year plan will now commence to progress the scheme from concept through to statutory processes, including preliminary design.
• The project will be initially funded by Cork County Council through the Social Sustainability Investment Programme.
• Alternative grant funded options are being developed also.
. 100 Million is the estimate cost of the full project and it will proceed in a phased basis.
• An application is currently with the department in regards the upgrade of the road from a secondary road to a national road and that is still ongoing with the dept.
