A big catch for Cobh Tidy Towns!

This week Cobh Tidy Towns completed many jobs.The new extended flowerbed at the beginning of Rushbrooke was planted with flowers as was the bed at the Welcome to Cobh sign. More poles were painted black and white around town.The Promenade footpaths were swept and 2 side flowerbeds were tidied up.Overgrowth was cut back at Westview and barrels planted with colour are now in place there.A flowerbed which had been uprooted by two dogs by Kennedy Pier was replanted by one of our volunteers on Saturday morning.

On Saturday Cobh Youth Services from ‘Chill on the Hill’ along with artist Jack Hickey and Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers placed their piece of recycled cans artwork in the form of a magnificent shark at Cows Cross by our boat and lucky fisherman Timmy.Thanks to all for their involvement in this unique project – the young people who collected and cleaned the cans,the youth leaders who organised and assisted with the project,Jack Hickey for his design and guidance,Cork County Council for funding,Ursula and Jim from Cobh Tidy Towns and Timmy for his patience in waiting for the Big Catch!

A date for your diary – East Cork Cinema Club Cobh are generously holding a fundraiser for Cobh Tidy Towns with a screening of the UK comedy “Very Annie Mary” on Monday July 2nd in the Community Centre.Doors open at 7.30pm with screening at 8pm.Admission 8eu with wine and food included.Come along for a night of laughter at the big screen in your local centre.Join us on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm and Saturday mornings at 10am at the playground by the Five Foot Way.
